South Carolina has built a manufacturing and port economy that punches well above its population. The Port of Charleston is among the fastest-growing container ports in the country, BMW and Boeing anchor large supplier networks around Greenville-Spartanburg and North Charleston, and I-85 and I-26 carry the resulting freight.
FedEx route businesses are priced on cash flow, not revenue and not route count. Across the route businesses Route Advisors currently has listed, asking prices run from 1.6x to 6.0x annual cash flow, median 3.6x; FedEx Ground P&D packages specifically run 2.7x to 5.4x.
South Carolina has no state minimum wage law, so the federal $7.25 applies. Market pay in the Upstate manufacturing corridor runs well above that, and a package whose margin depends on the statutory floor is not describing a real operation.
Current South Carolina inventory includes a 23-route FedEx P&D package asking $1,895,000 against $528,097 in cash flow – one of the larger P&D operations on our books.
